NEIGHBORS

political and economical processes in the city of NY brought it into a point of having exclusive projects and therefore attracting a high economic class population .
the cheapest apartment with contains 1 bedroom costs 735,000$
the most expensive one in the penthause costs 4,150,000 $

IMPLEMENTATION

TECHNOLOGY

4 sleek full stories constructed by "light steel" based on 5 concrete columns added to the old warehouse.

2 partial floors wrap down the back of the 6 story structure.

dark zinc panel facade

the new building stands on the main columns of the old one's .
thus ' other than these constructive elements , everything is flexible and allows changes inside each apartment

ENVIRONMENT

past -gansvoort market :

"living glimps of n.y city's maritime , industrial and market past " .

current - mixed use mercantile district threatend by growing development .

CITY

the idea if the building in the urban context is to enlarge the city in the vertical dimension.
not wasting potential space that the existing city has already created

BUILDING

10 stories-22 units :
5 - 1 bedroom
13 - 2 bed' (some with study some with terrace)
3 - 3bed'
1 - 4 bed'+rooftop deck
variety of high cost apartments divided by floors and walls gives very little spaces of interaction between the dwellers.

the main purpose of the project is to deal with an existing not in use building that served a curtain function , and to transform it into something totally different with other function .
specifically - storage house & workshops into residence
